What Confucius is saying is the biggest way you can be a coward is knowing what is right but not doing it. For example, you could see two people robbing someone. The right thing to do would be to call the cops to let them know but just walking away like nothing happened would make you the biggest coward ever. You should always do right no matter the circumstances.
