Student Success Statement
“Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence.”
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts
Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”
-President Calvin Coolidge

I think that what president Coolidge is trying to say is that you could be the most talented, smartest, or most educated man on the planet but you’ll still be unsuccessful. You’ll be unsuccessful because it won’t matter how smart or talented you are because the only thing that will matter is how much persistence you show. Persistence is what will help you throughout your whole life, no matter how smart or talented or educated you are.

Summary on John F. Kennedy’s view on physical fitness

I think that John F. Kennedy was right in saying that we should improve the quality of our bodies and minds by exercising more. We cannot have a healthy mind or body if all we do is sit around all day. In order to get more exercise I will try to go to the gym more often. I will also try to not be lazy and do everything I have to do. And finally I will stay away from drugs as they will hurt my body and my mind.
Student Success Statements
“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body. It is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the action of the activities of the mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But we do know what the Greeks knew: that intelligence and skill can only function at the peak of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong.”
-President John F. Kennedy

What I think this quote is saying is that being healthy not only has a positive effect on your body, but it also has a positive effect on your mind. The better shape you’re in the better shape your mind will be in as well. Your mind cannot function properly if it is in an unhealthy body.

Student Success Statement
“No student ever attains eminent success by simply doing what is required of him/her; it is the amount and excellence of what is over and above the required that determines the greatness of ultimate distinction.”
-Charles Kendall Adams

What I think this quote is saying is that you cannot be a great student by just doing what’s required. In order to be a great student you should do more and exceed expectations in your work. Everybody will be doing their required work but only a few students will do more work and show their excellence.

“Doing what is right, fair, and honorable is more important than winning or losing.”
-Chick Moorman

I think this quote means that no matter whether you win or lose the important thing is that you played hard, fair and honorably. Good sportsmanship is an important trait to have when playing a sport or game. You could win/lose countless of times and you won’t feel better each time, but good sportsmanship will make you feel better each time.
What I did over the weekend

Over the weekend me and my brother took down a small tree in the front yard of our house and replaced it with a lemon tree. First we dug up the dirt/soil around the tree and started breaking of its roots. That took about an hour. It took us long because the tree was dug deep into the soil and all of its roots were practically grown up. We then ripped the tree out from the soil and started breaking it into pieces so that it could fit in the recycling bin. After all that work was done we finally planted the lemon tree in the yard. This was pretty much it for the weekend. I also saw a bunch of old gang/crime movies with my brother but other than that it was a pretty chill weekend.

“Goal setting is goal getting. Set and get.”
-Mark Victor Hansen

This quote is basically saying that once you set a goal you’ve already achieved the first step to completing it.  You cannot complete a goal if you haven’t set one. Setting a goal and telling that goal to yourself everyday will help you complete your goal.
Progress Report on My 100 Goals

I’m also working on getting my driver’s license. So far I already know most of the basic mechanics I just need to get my permit once I turn 15 ½. Hopefully when I turn 16 I can get my driver’s license and check that goal off my list.
