Emergency Medical
Technician
Duties and Responsibilities
An emergency
medical technician responds to emergency situations. They also perform
lifesaving techniques until a patient can be transported to a hospital or
treatment facility. They also transfer injured patients to a hospital(s).
Education
You must
have a high school diploma and complete EMT training. EMT training takes about
2-6 months.
There are
three different levels of an Emergency medical technician. Each level has its
own training. To become a basic EMT you must have a high school degree and
finish EMT training. In order to become an Intermediate EMT you must complete 200-
400 EMT training hours. To become the most qualified level of an EMT (also
known as a paramedic) you must complete over 1,000 or more hours of training.
Do you think you would like to be an
EMT?
I wouldn't want
to be an EMT because it seems to stressful. I wouldn't be able to work in a job
where one mistake could mean one death.
