Ophthalmic Technician
Duties and Responsibilities
Ophthalmic
technicians help ophthalmologists collect data and measurements to allow the
correct diagnosis and treatments of eye diseases. They may work at hospitals,
clinics, or even in private practice. Their job duties include performing
simple eye exams, assisting with eye surgery, and explaining the procedure to
the patient.
Average Salary: $14,000-$25,000
Educational Requirements
In order to
become an ophthalmic technician you’ll need a high school diploma or GED
certificate. You will also need two years of college study before you begin your
ophthalmic training.
