Optometrist
Duties and Responsibilities
Optometrists
treat vision problems. They treat vision problems by diagnosing the problem and
then prescribing corrosive eyeglasses, contact lenses, or vision therapy. Some
optometrists specialize in industrial vision safety, treatment of vision
related learning disabilities, and environmental vision care. They may not
however write prescriptions, treat diseases, or perform surgery.
Average Salary: $78,000
Educational Requirements
In order to
become an optometrist students should take the most challenging high school
courses in math, science, and English. They then need to complete two years of
college before entering an optometry program. An optometry program is about 4
years long. Finally you must pass an exam to get certified.
Would you like to be one?
